Over 1 Million Raised for Victims of Hurricane Igor
The Help for Home Radiothon ran 24 hours on Wednesday, Sept. 29th, and raised over $1,000,000
to help the victims of Hurricane Igor. During the category 1 hurricane, which ripped through the province
of Newfoundland and Labrador on Sept 21, 2010, upwards of 200 millimeters of rain fell and wind gusts
of up to 140 km/h were recorded, leaving over 55,000 people without electricity and thousands of
residents isolated and stranded after large sections of the Trans Canada Highway were
completely washed away.
The outpouring of support and donations for those hit by the hurricane was truly moving, and we're
both proud of and grateful to all who contributed, pledged and volunteered.
