How to play Bingo

One of the great things about bingo is just how simple the rules of the game really are.
Bingo is so easy to play that anybody can pick up the basics very quickly. That – plus the great
prizes and jackpots you can win – have made it a very popular and enjoyable game.

What you need

All you need to play is a set of cards which you buy at the Bingo hall and something to mark your cards with, like a marker, dauber, or chips.

The Bingo cards feature five columns across and 5 rows underneath for a total of 25 squares each. Each square contains a random number on it, except for the centre square, which is a free square.

How to Play

To play the game you listen to the letter/number combos being called by the caller: they look like this B15, I17, N32. The caller is reading this letter/number combo from a ball that he/she has picked from a bingo ball cage or that dropped from an electrically operated blower machine.

After each call, you scan your cards to see if you have that same letter/number combo on your card(s). If you do, you have a match and you can mark it on your card with your dauber or token.

How to Win

The object of the game is to match the pattern being created on
your card,
with the pattern that was announced by the caller
before each game.

When you have a pattern match, you call out BINGO! If you’re the first person to call Bingo, and your card has been checked and verified by the staff, you‘re the game winner and you receive a prize.

Prizes & Jackpots

With prizes changing from week to week, and dozens of patterns from
which to choose, Bingo is a fun and exciting game for everyone.

Bingo Etiquette

Bingo halls are usually friendly places, but people there are still playing a game they are trying to win.
Keep in mind these etiquette tips, especially if you’re new to the game or a particular hall.

  • Know when to stop talking. Most serious players stop talking as soon as the
    caller begins the game.
  • Don't repeat. Some players have a habit of repeating numbers as they are called. This might
help them concentrate, but it can be very distracting for other players. Try to keep talking
and extra noise to a minimum while numbers are being called.
  • Keep children under control. Most people will understand if you bring the kids,
but they won't be happy if your children distract them while they are trying to concentrate.
  • Don't take out your frustrations on the caller. This is a game of chance. Making comments
about the caller if you’re getting frustrated won’t fix anything and just shows you’re a sore loser.
  • Think before you call bingo. Calling bingo stops the flow of the game. If it's a false bingo,
others could get frustrated—especially if they've already disposed of the last game's paper sheets.
